UK Dates of Farewell Tour Announced

In addition to the North American dates, Elton recently announced via his website two 2019 UK dates in Hove June 9th and Cardiff on June 15th.

“I am very happy to announce the launch of my UK Farewell Yellow Brick Road Tour with concerts in Hove and Cardiff. The audiences in the south coast and Wales have always been some of the most welcoming and exciting I have played in front of over the past 42 years and the band, and I are so excited to say goodbye in the most fantastic way. It’s going to be amazing!”

Gucci Styled Farewell Tour Wardrobe

Elton will make his final fashion statement with three Alessandro Michele designed stage costumes which took 18 months to create.

“Look, I’m not Mick Jagger, Rod Stewart or David Bowie, tearing from one end of the stage to the other,” Mr. John said, clad in an electric pink T-shirt and glasses, swim shorts and black baseball cap (all by Gucci). “I’m always bloody stuck at the piano, aren’t I? Clothes have always had to be part of the show that I put on. They made me memorable. Though I suppose with hindsight, I did go totally and utterly crazy, especially in the first 30 years of my career. Any good costume makes you feel ready to perform. I arrive at a venue, take a nap, then wake up and pick my outfit. Then I put it on. And that’s the moment when I become Elton John” Mr. John said, looking a little tired behind his rose-tinted glasses as he stared out over the yachts moored in the Mediterranean Sea. “When I take it all off, that all disappears again. When I’m offstage, I’m not Elton. To my boys, I’m just Daddy”

Rod Stewart Feud

After announcing his farewell tour, longtime friend/adversary Rod Stewart had some choice words for Elton:

“Talking about retirement, I’ve never spoken about retirement, and if I do retire, I won’t make an announcement. I’ll just fade away,” Stewart, 73, said. “I don’t think this big deal, ‘I’m going to retire’ – it stinks of selling tickets…it’s dishonest. It’s not rock and roll.”

Whether you agree with Rod Stewart or not, real Elton John fans are hoping he can stave off retirement and continue to entertain for years to come.
